During a freelance project, the client made the following request:
"Creation of an Excel Model for Personal Finance Tracking This project involves creating an Excel template designed as a spreadsheet for tracking income and expenses, specifically for personal finance management. The main goal is to develop an easy-to-use and customizable tool that allows users to effectively record their income, expenses, and budget. The Excel model can include features such as separate sheets for income and expenses, expense categorization, charts and visualizations, functionality for setting financial goals, and other relevant features. We trust your expertise to include anything you deem necessary!"
Development
Income Sheet
For the income sheet, I developed a monthly tracker where the user has:
- A free-text field for the income name;

A field for the type of income, consisting of a standardized list, as shown in the image below:

Automatic summation organized by:
- Bi-monthly
- Quarterly
- Semi-annuallu
- Annually
Expense Sheet
For the expense sheet, I created a monthly tracker where the user has:

Budget Sheet
The budget sheet is a dashboard formatted for printing or saving as a PDF. It consolidates all the data entered in the Income and Expense sheets.
The dashboard includes filters for periods and specific types of income and expenses.
Categories Sheet
The spreadsheet also provides the user with a "Categories" sheet, where they can add, modify, or delete the standardized types of income and expenses.
